Have you heard this?

Love Song No. 7

It's beautiful, it makes me want to cry.

Have you seen this?

Tony vs. Paul. Apparently, yes, they really did jump all those times.

Watching Paint Dry

You may be wondering what color I am wearing on my fingernails and toenails. Lincoln Park After Dark, OPI Chicago Collection. I am getting so bored of dark colors, I am thisclose to going light. Then I remember the time I wore a nice yellow and a girl whose name I've forgotten said it looked like jaundice. The girl was fat and ugly.

Yesterday after work I got a pedicure and manicure at Mini Spa (173 Ludlow St). No one has reviewed it on Citysearch. Here's my review.

The decor. Exposed brick wall, track lighting, hardwood floors. And amazingly, that is all. The only pink appears on their products, body washes and candles in scents involving blood orange and Japanese peony, neatly displayed on wood shelves. There are several pedicures and manicures to choose from, but I kept it simple with the $30 "Relax Pedicure" and $18 "Relax Manicure." They were done simultaneously by two girls. If you're Chinese/Korean/Japanese and don't like being asked if you're Chinese/Korean/Japanese, this might be the place for you.

I'd have preferred the pedicure and manicure done separately for a couple of reasons. One person snipping at my fingernail cuticles and another sanding my toes was not relaxing. I couldn't read my book, but I couldn't close my eyes and relax either. And waiting for the paint to dry, the most boring thing ever, was inefficient because there was only a fan for my fingernails and not toenails, which were completed second. However, the whole affair took almost two hours, so maybe I'm glad I had them done at once. And sixty dollars later, I try not to think about my $6 Clinton Street manicure last week. I give them a B-.

What is Peace, Love & Kate's?

We're two girls. Cho, dark hair, dark eyes. Lo, dark hair, dark eyes. First we met for Cupcake Fridays at a too-sweet cupcake shop on Rivington. When things became more serious we thought, Let's push things forward, and so began a weekly dinner at Kate's Joint (4th and B).

Aside from a leftover Turducken part in my freezer, I'm going green. And red wine every night. You're right, it's just a phase.

Um, and then we started a blog.

Plastic Bags and Plastic Seats: An Anecdote provided to you by the MTA.

Taking the Train the other day, I couldn't help but focus my attention on an oddly shaped plastic bag peaking out timidly from beneath the bench of the 6 train. The bag was normal enough, but for some reason all of my fellow riders, like myself, couldn't help but stare at it. I waited patiently for the woman closest to it to pick up the bag and look inside. No movements, however, we made on her part. Finally, after two or three stops of anticipation, the seeming former member of a subway Doo-Woop group came slamming through the doors of the train to march down the aisle. I noticed him notice the plastic bag, and to my delight, he bent down to analyze its contents. All eyes of the train were upon him as his wrinkled nose of disappointment assured the riders that we had been wrong all along—there was absolutely nothing special about that damn bag. But at least we got some closure. Thanks, Mr. Subway Doo-Wop Man.

Know Your Cheese!

Reading take-out menus has always been on my list of fun things to do. Reading gourmet epicurian emporium catalogs, however, is equally good, maybe better. People flip through them, dog-ear pages, circle things. How many people read the content? Who writes this shit? Where would I go if I wanted to write this shit? A couple excerpts from Zabar's 2006/2007 catalog.

J. GET YOUR GOAT
Humbolt Fog from California's Cypress Grove, a moist, flaky cheese bisected with a layer of edible vegetable ash. Light and refreshing with a citrusy zing.
Quiejo de Cabra Pimentão is a semi-firm cheese, from Portugal. It proves you don't have to be strong to be delicious.
